Can I save my Lime Tree, or is he dead??? : (((?

Hi - My lime tree has hardly any leaves, the branches are quite long. Its suitable for pots and balconies, but I think I over loved it... maybe it has root rot? Is there anyway I can save him, he's about 3-4 years old now. Never had a lime... just some small white flowers occasionally.
