Soliciting laws and selling my product?

I am trying to start a small business where I sell items I make to retail stores. I am wondering what the laws are in asking stores if I can send them a catalog of my items or calling them, emailing, waking in, etc. Is there anything I should know about? I notice that some stores have signs out in front of their business that say No Soliciting, which really would be what I would be doing so does that mean I mark them off my list? I do not want to offend anyone, I am just trying to reach buyers.
